Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe – Disney World Magic Kingdom

I have learned you can eat at Disney World with out to many problems.  If you want to eat at a sit down restaurant you need to make reservations in advance. The first thing I always do is find a restaurant that has something I think I could eat.  If everything is fried at a particular restaurant they are going to have a hard time making you something gluten free. Once I pick a place I ask for the manager and they have access to a book with all the ingredients and help you select something to eat.  A lot of the restaurants will have access to gluten free breads, buns and pasta.

On my latest trip we ate at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe.  The manager was very helpful and I decided to eat the Half Rotisserie Chicken – served with mashed potatoes & green beans. The food takes a little while because they get everything from the back.  The meal was very tasty and was a good value at $9.00.  I would recommend Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe if you are looking for quick affordable place to eat at the magic kingdom.

Did the line chef use the same tongs to handle your chicken as he does to handle the toasted buns coming off the grill? Was the chicken prepped on the same cutting board as sandwiches? Were utensils isolated? How did you verify that the kitchen/preparation was gluten free ??

If you know ahead of time that you will be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort contact their Special Diet Department by email (SpecialDiets@DisneyWorld.com) at least 14 days in advance. They will send you documents showing where you can find GF foods. They will also contact all of the restaurants you plan on dining at, even counter service, to let them know what they need to do for you to have a safe meal.

I always look over the menus from AllEars (https://allears.net/menu/menus.htm) when planning my WDW vacations. Then you can reference these back to the documents Special Diets sends you. Or you can even list on the form they send you what you want to eat at each restaurant. That is what I did. Several chefs either called or emailed me to confirm my needs as I have Celiac and food allergies.

WDW does such an amazing job on making sure we are safe. I had a wonderful meal everywhere we went on our 9 day vacation in January.
